Job Requirements

  • Experience baking from scratch for a busy kitchen for at least one year
  • creativity in introducing new menu items
  • decorating skills
  • experience as a line cook or prep cook preferred
  • education may substitute for experience
  • ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
  • compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • willingness to coordinate with management regarding supplies
  • fully vaccinated preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepares appetizing baked goods and desserts according to standardized recipes
  • calculates quantities required for the number of persons to be served
  • delegates responsibility to cooks assistants for preparation tasks
  • assists in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of work areas
  • ensures proper storage, marking, and dating of food items following FIFO methods
  • meets food production schedules according to the menu
  • prepares baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions as needed
  • notifies Food Service Director or Chef of supply shortages
  • performs duties in accordance with The Village's mission and Food Service Dept. motto
  • undertakes other duties and special projects related to daily dietary department operations
