Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year professional baking experience or equivalent education
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Physical ability to handle baking tasks and cleaning duties
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Preferred fully vaccinated for COVID-19
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to follow standardized recipes and menu guidelines
Job Qualifications
- At least one year experience baking from scratch for a busy kitchen
- Creativity in introducing new baked goods and decorating skills
- Experience as a line cook or prep cook preferred
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to delegate and supervise cook assistants
- Strong communication skills
- Education may be substituted for experience
Job Duties
- Prepares appetizing baked goods and desserts for residents and employees according to standardized recipes
- Calculates quantities required for the number of persons to be served
- Delegates responsibility to cooks assistants assigned to help in preparation of baked goods and desserts
- Assists in cleaning functions to maintain a safe and sanitary work area
- Ensures food is stored, marked, dated and covered correctly following FIFO methods
- Meets food production schedules according to menu
- Prepares baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
- Notifies Food Service Director or Chef of low supply items
- Performs duties in alignment with The Village mission statement and Food Service Dept. motto
- Handles other duties and special projects related to dietary department operations
