Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • at least one year experience baking from scratch
  • creativity in baking and decoration
  • experience as line cook or prep cook preferred
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and instructions
  • ability to manage and delegate tasks
  • commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
  • physically able to perform kitchen duties
  • fully vaccinated preferred

Job Qualifications

  • at least one year of experience baking from scratch in a busy kitchen
  • creativity in introducing new menu items and decorating skills
  • experience as a line cook or prep cook preferred
  • education may be substituted for experience
  • ability to perform essential baking duties satisfactorily
  • adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
  • good communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • prepares appetizing baked goods and desserts for residents and employees following standardized recipes
  • directly responsible for preparation of baked goods and desserts for regular and special diets following menu
  • calculates quantities required for the number of persons to be served
  • delegates responsibility to cooks assistants
  • assists in cleaning functions to maintain a safe and sanitary work area
  • ensures food is stored, marked, dated and covered correctly using FIFO methods
  • meets food production schedules according to menu
  • prepares baked goods and desserts for banquets and special functions
  • notifies Food Service Director or Chef of low food items and supplies
  • performs all duties aligning with The Village mission and Food Service Dept. motto
