Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • minimum 18 years of age
  • previous food service experience
  • current food safety training certificate required and renewed every three years
  • ability to work scheduled hours including holidays and weekends
  • ability to use kitchen equipment properly
  • good attendance and punctuality
  • ability to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
  • ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish preferred
  • ability to follow instructions
  • basic math skills
  • physical ability to stand, walk, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items
  • willingness to maintain cleanliness and safety standards

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Light gas ovens upon arrival
  • check for gas leaks
  • turn on extractor
  • bake bread, pastries or other bakery items as needed
  • prepare flan, custards, rice pudding or other bakery items as needed
  • place loaves of bread into bags and put on display for sale, restocking when necessary
  • maintain awareness of floor conditions and ensure all safety measures for customers, vendors and employees
  • restock displays of food as needed
  • maintain sanitary work area adhering to health, safety and sanitation codes
  • keep work area clean, orderly and free of safety hazards
  • wash, sanitize and store knives and utensils properly
  • use kitchen equipment properly according to guidelines and report malfunctions
  • report all accidents promptly
  • assist the head cook as needed
  • ensure safety while handling hot trays
  • maintain cleanliness standards using gloves when warranted
  • prepare bread dough overnight when scheduled for evening shift
  • attend and participate in store or department meetings
  • ensure punctuality and good attendance
  • perform other duties as required to meet job objectives
  • assist food servers by attending to customer requests for department products
  • sweep and mop floors as needed
