Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Availability to report to work as scheduled and on time

Job Qualifications

  • Over six months up to one year of related bakery or food production experience
  • Ability to provide friendly and efficient customer service
  • Basic knowledge of bakery equipment and operations
  • Ability to prioritize and manage production schedules
  • Strong attention to detail and product quality

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow sanitation and safety protocols
  • Basic arithmetic skills

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer requests
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
  • Checks orders for the day and sets up a production schedule
  • Prepares make up, bakes, and fries all department products as needed
  • Reviews the status and appearance of product for freshness and pulls by stale date
  • Invoices and puts away product as instructed
  • Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
  • Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
  • Understands and manages bakery equipment and maintenance needs
  • Checks signage for correct labels on ad items
  • Reviews department for safety issues
  • Operates as a lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritizes orders as per customer and manager requests
  • Proofs necessary items
  • Pulls product from freezer or cooler
  • Practices proper sanitation procedures
  • Maintains personal hygiene and dress standards
  • Follows company policies and store guidelines
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time
  • Orders supplies and merchandise for the department as directed
  • Re-merchandises shelves and disposes of outdated products
  • Writes department schedule and manages employee attendance in bakery manager’s absence
  • Assists in other store areas as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
