Job Description
Tufts Dining is a self-operated food service provider managing a comprehensive collegiate food service program across Tufts University Medford-Somerville and the SMFA/Fenway campus. Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- 3-5 years of baking experience
- ability to read and adjust baking formulas
- follow verbal and written instructions
- work independently under pressure
- knowledge of foodservice math and baking measurements
- experience with bakeshop equipment
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- speak, read, and understand English
- flexible and willing to learn various jobs as needed
- availability for academic-year schedule Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- comply with departmental schedules and policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma with 3-5 years of baking experience
- ability to read, understand, follow, and adjust baking formulas
- ability to follow verbal directions and organize work according to written instructions
- ability to work independently under pressure of multiple deadlines
- possess basic knowledge of foodservice math and baking weights and measures
- experience using bakeshop equipment including mixers, scales, dough dividers, sheeters, proof boxes, and ovens
- must speak, read, and understand English language
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- friendly and helpful attitude with strong customer contact skills
Job Duties
- Work as a member of the culinary team to ensure production needs are met
- scale, bake, finish, and prepare bakery products for storage and delivery following preparation guidelines and recipes
- prepare baked goods using different baking methods and equipment
- ensure all baked products meet high-quality standards
- collaborate with management and culinary staff to create and implement new products and recipes
- handle and store ingredients and finished products according to sanitation procedures
- complete required temperature charts, production sheets, and service records accurately
- report equipment problems to management immediately
- perform other related food service duties based on business demand
- demonstrate ability to work under high-volume and pressure conditions
