Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in bakery or food preparation preferred
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes accurately
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs
  • Capacity to stand for long hours in hot environments

Job Duties

  • Prepare all bakery items following standardized recipes including measuring ingredients and cutting pastry products
  • Maintain clean and sanitized work areas complying with sanitation and health codes
  • Ensure consistency and quality for all prepared food items
  • Observe product colors and adjust oven temperatures humidity or proofer settings accordingly
  • Set oven temperatures and place items into ovens for baking
  • Combine measured ingredients using appropriate cookware
  • Portion roll knead cut and shape dough for various baked goods
  • Place doughs in pans molds or on sheets and bake using production or convection ovens
  • Check quality of raw materials to meet standards and specifications
  • Adjust ingredient quantities to match baking amounts
  • Apply glazes whipped cream or toppings using spatulas or brushes
  • Prepare garnishes for baked goods
  • Decorate baked goods using pastry bags
  • Set time and speed controls for mixing or blending machines
  • Measure or weigh ingredients using scales or graduated containers
  • Obtain and carry ice to bakeshop area
  • Lift and carry heavy baking supplies such as bags of flour or buckets of honey
  • Carry sheet trays and large pots for cooking pastry cream syrups or pie toppings
  • Package baked goods in appropriate trays and transport to storage
  • Stand for 8 to 12 hours in a hot and crowded bakery environment
  • Clean all baking equipment including ovens mixers proofer floors freezer and refrigerators
  • Break down and put away all station materials at shift end
  • Must be dependable and adhere to scheduling and attendance policies
