Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Previous food service experience required
- Current food safety training certificate required with renewal every three years
- Ability to work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends
- Ability to stand and walk frequently
- Ability to lift, carry and move food products
- Ability to use kitchen equipment safely
- Good attendance and punctuality
- Physical ability to perform bending, kneeling and occasional climbing
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Previous food service experience
- Current food safety training certificate with renewal every three years
- Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and Spanish preferred
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to use department equipment properly
- Takes responsibility for own actions
- Ability to work scheduled hours including holidays and weekends
- Basic math skills including weight and measure comprehension
- Ability to apply common sense and accuracy in performing duties
Job Duties
- Light gas ovens and check for gas leaks upon arrival
- Bake bread, pastries, and other bakery items as needed
- Prepare flan, custards, rice pudding, or other bakery items
- Place loaves of bread into bags and display for sale, restocking when needed
- Maintain awareness of floor conditions and ensure safety measures to protect customers, vendors, and employees
- Restock food displays using items from back room, kitchen, and cooler
- Maintain sanitary work area and adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation codes
- Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from hazards
- Use kitchen equipment properly and call for repairs when necessary
- Report accidents promptly following company procedures
- Assist the head cook as needed
- Ensure safety when handling hot trays of food
- Maintain cleaning standards using gloves when warranted
- Prepare bread dough for next day baking during night shift
- Attend and participate in department or store meetings
- Maintain punctuality and good attendance
- Perform other work-related duties as required
