Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six months of related bakery experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to comply with sanitation and safety regulations
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to work in environments exposed to flour, noise, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months to one year of related baking or bakery experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Basic arithmetic skills involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide courteous and friendly customer service
  • Understanding of bakery equipment and safety practices
  • Capability to lead and guide bakery clerks and apprentices

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting care, concern and patience
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
  • Make an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing hard-to-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, and noting customer suggestions
  • Answer the telephone promptly and take product orders
  • Check daily orders and set up production schedules
  • Prepare make-up, bake, and fry bakery products as needed
  • Monitor product freshness and pull items by stale date
  • Invoice and store product as instructed
  • Anticipate product needs for current and future days
  • Inspect the quality and quantity of incoming products
  • Understand and monitor bakery equipment and maintenance issues
  • Check signage for correct labeling
  • Review department for potential safety hazards
  • Operate as a lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritize orders as requested
  • Proof necessary bakery items
  • Pull products from freezer or cooler
  • Practice proper sanitation and maintain cleanliness
  • Adhere to company policies, hygiene, and dress codes
  • Report to work on time as scheduled
