Job Requirements
- High school or equivalent experience
- six months to one year of related baking experience
- ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
- visual acuity including color vision and depth perception
- ability to perform physical activities such as stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- ability to follow safety and hygiene protocols
- punctuality and reliability
- willingness to complete pre-employment drug screening
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- over six months up to one year of related experience in baking or a similar role
- ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages
- ability to copy data, interview for basic information and provide guidance
- effective communication and customer service skills
- knowledge of bakery equipment operation and maintenance
- understanding of proper sanitation procedures and safety standards
- physical ability for frequent lifting, stooping, crouching, standing and repetitive motions
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions
- smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner
- makes an effort to learn customers' names and addresses them by name
- assists customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading/unloading heavy items, noting and passing along suggestions
- answers the telephone promptly and takes product orders
- checks orders and sets up production schedule
- prepares make up, bakes, and fries bakery products
- reviews product freshness and pulls by stale date
- invoices and stocks products
- anticipates product needs for current and future days
- inspects incoming product quality and quantity
- monitors and reports bakery equipment maintenance issues
- checks signage for correct labeling
- reviews department for safety hazards
- operates as a lead with bakery clerks
- prioritizes orders per requests
- proofs necessary items
- pulls products from freezer or cooler
- practices proper sanitation and maintains clean work area
- adheres to personal hygiene, dress code, company policies, and store guidelines
- reports to work on time and as scheduled
- orders supplies and merchandise except cake decorating items
- reviews and re-merchandises shelf products
- writes department schedule and manages employee attendance in manager's absence
- assists in other store areas as needed
- performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
