Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year of related bakery experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
- Good vision including color vision and depth perception
- Ability to perform stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to follow instructions
- Must adhere to company policies and personal hygiene guidelines
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over six months to one year of experience in bakery or related field
- Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks
- Strong customer service skills
- Basic arithmetic skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Capability to operate bakery equipment
- Leadership skills to assist and guide bakery clerks
- Knowledge of sanitation procedures
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee’s designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy products, passing along customer suggestions or requests, and enhancing the shopping experience
- Answers telephones promptly and provides friendly service including taking product orders
- Checks daily orders and establishes production schedules
- Prepares make up, bakes, and fries bakery products as needed
- Reviews product freshness and removes items past their stale dates
- Handles invoicing and puts away products as directed by the department manager
- Anticipates product needs for current and future days
- Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
- Monitors bakery equipment for maintenance needs
- Ensures proper labeling and signage on items
- Reviews department for safety issues
- Operates as a lead with bakery clerks
- Prioritizes orders per customer and management requests
- Proofs necessary items
- Pulls product from freezer or cooler as required
- Practices proper sanitation and maintains a clean work area
- Maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress codes
- Reports to work on time as scheduled
- Orders supplies and merchandise items as directed
- Re-merchandises and manages shelf inventory
- Writes department schedules and manages employee attendance and replacements as needed
- Assists in other store areas as required
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned
