Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years bakery experience or acceptable combination of education and experience
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to operate bakery equipment safely
  • physical capability to stand for long periods and lift moderately heavy items
  • adherence to food safety and health regulations including Food Handlers permit
  • reliable and dependable work ethic

Job Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • have 1-2 years of bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • be dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • have an outgoing and friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
  • possess good communication skills and the ability to take direction and work in a team environment
  • be able to answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping duties and sanitize work areas
  • able to operate bakery equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • capable of standing up to 3 hours continuously for 8-hour shifts and lifting items up to 40 lbs
  • adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit

Job Duties

  • Assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
  • provide a high level of customer service and ensure bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
  • maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris, and sweeping
  • stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining the rotation of all bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items
  • receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
  • respond to customer inquiries and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping in the bakery department
