This job opening is for the position of Baker within a bakery department, operating under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastry Chef. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Stand for extended periods with frequent bending and stooping
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and measuring quantities
  • Must be able to work under extreme temperatures including hot ovens and freezers
  • May require working occasional longer shifts of up to 10 hours
  • May require working overnight early mornings evenings weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous baking experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand recipes and measure quantities
  • Strong manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work under varying temperatures including hot ovens and freezers
  • Capable of standing for extended periods

Job Duties

  • Observe color of products being baked and adjust oven temperatures humidity or conveyor speeds accordingly
  • Set oven temperatures and place items into hot ovens for baking
  • Combine measured ingredients in bowls of mixing blending or cooking machinery
  • Measure or weigh flour or other ingredients to prepare batters doughs fillings or icings using scales or graduated containers
  • Roll knead cut or shape dough to form sweet rolls pie crusts tarts cookies or other products
  • Place dough in pans molds or on sheets and bake in production ovens
  • Check the quality of raw materials to ensure that standards and specifications are met
