Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • six months to one year of related bakery experience
  • ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • ability to perform stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • ability to see clearly at distances between 20 inches and 20 feet with or without correction, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision
  • able to work in conditions with exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and cleaning chemicals
  • willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • over six months to one year of similar or related experience
  • strong customer service skills
  • basic arithmetic skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • ability to follow directions and solve practical problems
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • knowledge of bakery equipment is a plus
  • ability to lead and work with team members

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, noting suggestions and enhancing the shopping experience
  • answers telephones promptly and takes product orders
  • checks daily orders and sets up production schedules
  • prepares, bakes, and fries all bakery products as needed
  • reviews product freshness and removes stale items
  • invoices and stocks products under direction
  • anticipates product needs for current and future days
  • inspects incoming product quality and quantity
  • understands and reports bakery equipment maintenance needs
  • ensures correct product labeling and signage
  • monitors and addresses department safety issues
  • operates as a lead with bakery clerks
  • prioritizes orders per customer and manager requests
  • proofs necessary items
  • pulls products from freezer or cooler
  • practices proper sanitation
  • maintains strict personal hygiene and dress guidelines
  • adheres to company policies and is punctual
