Job Requirements
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have at least 2 years of cooking experience
- Ability to measure and weigh ingredients accurately
- Ability to operate baking equipment safely
- Must adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations
- Physical ability to lift up to 40lbs
- Must be able to stand 80 percent of shift and walk 20 percent
- Frequent movement of objects
- Occasional heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing or balancing
- Frequent stooping, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, seeing
- Ability to work variable shifts from 6:00am to 2:30pm
- Must be willing to assist in prep and cooking during down time
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent may be preferred
- Certificate or diploma in baking, pastry arts, or culinary arts is a plus
- Food handlers certificate or sanitation training may be required
- Proven experience as a baker or baker's assistant, typically 1-3 years
- Experience with high-volume production is beneficial
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and methods
- Proficiency in reading and following recipes accurately
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic math skills for measuring and scaling recipes
- Creativity and artistic ability for decorating and product development
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Bake and decorate cakes, pies and other desserts
- Assist in prep and cooking during down time
- Measure and weigh ingredients accurately
- Mix, knead, roll, cut, and shape dough or batter
- Operate and monitor ovens and baking equipment
- Monitor baking process and adjust as needed
- Develop and test new recipes
- Decorate finished products with glazes, icing, and toppings
- Ensure all baked goods meet presentation standards
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies
- Place orders for stock to minimize waste
- Conduct quality checks on raw materials and finished products
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations
- Greet customers and answer product questions
- Process payments and fulfill custom orders
- Clean work areas, equipment, and assist with kitchen housekeeping
- Perform assigned duties from managers and chefs
- Assist cooks/chef during slow times with prep work
