Job Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year of related baking or food preparation experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
- Visual acuity with or without correction
- Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, temperature-variable environment
- Ability to adhere to company policies on personal hygiene and dress
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over six months up to one year of similar or related baking experience
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
- Leadership or team lead experience is a plus
- Basic communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize orders
- Familiarity with bakery equipment operation and maintenance
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of customer suggestions, performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
- Checks orders and sets up production schedule
- Prepares make up, bakes, and fries all department products
- Reviews product status and appearance for freshness and pull by stale date
- Invoices and puts away products as instructed by department manager
- Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
- Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
- Understands use and issues related to bakery equipment and follows up on maintenance
- Checks signage for correct labels
- Reviews department for potential safety issues
- Operates as lead with bakery clerks
- Prioritizes orders per customer and manager requests
- Proofs necessary items
- Pulls product from freezer or cooler
- Practices sanitation procedures and keeps work area clean
- Adheres to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Reports to work as scheduled and on time
- Orders supplies and merchandise as directed
- Reviews and re-merchandises product on shelf
- Writes department schedule and ensures staffing in manager's absence
- Assists in other store areas
- Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
