Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months to one year of related baking or food preparation experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Visual acuity with or without correction
  • Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, temperature-variable environment
  • Ability to adhere to company policies on personal hygiene and dress
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related baking experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • Leadership or team lead experience is a plus
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize orders
  • Familiarity with bakery equipment operation and maintenance

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing products out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, making note of customer suggestions, performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
  • Checks orders and sets up production schedule
  • Prepares make up, bakes, and fries all department products
  • Reviews product status and appearance for freshness and pull by stale date
  • Invoices and puts away products as instructed by department manager
  • Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
  • Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
  • Understands use and issues related to bakery equipment and follows up on maintenance
  • Checks signage for correct labels
  • Reviews department for potential safety issues
  • Operates as lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritizes orders per customer and manager requests
  • Proofs necessary items
  • Pulls product from freezer or cooler
  • Practices sanitation procedures and keeps work area clean
  • Adheres to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time
  • Orders supplies and merchandise as directed
  • Reviews and re-merchandises product on shelf
  • Writes department schedule and ensures staffing in manager's absence
  • Assists in other store areas
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
