Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months to one year of related bakery experience
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Visual ability including depth perception, color vision and field of vision
  • Physical ability to stoop, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions
  • Willingness to adhere to company hygiene and dress codes
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts reliably
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related bakery experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Skill in arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Effective communication skills including interviewing and providing basic direction
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Understanding of proper sanitation and safety procedures
  • Proficiency with bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, proof boxes, fryers and other department machinery

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in the designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to the products they are looking for, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions, enhancing the shopping experience
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
  • Checks orders and sets up production schedules
  • Prepares make up, bakes, and fries all department products
  • Reviews product freshness and pulls stale items
  • Invoices and puts away products as instructed
  • Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
  • Inspects incoming product quality and quantity
  • Understands bakery equipment use and maintenance issues
  • Checks signage for correct labels
  • Reviews department for potential safety issues
  • Operates as a lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritizes and proof necessary items
  • Pulls product from freezer or cooler
  • Practices proper sanitation and maintains clean work area
  • Maintains strict personal hygiene and dress adherence
  • Adheres to company policies and store guidelines
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • Orders supplies and merchandise (excluding cake decorating items) as directed
  • Reviews and merchandises shelf items, disposes outdated products
  • Writes department schedules and manages employee attendance in manager's absence
  • Assists other store areas as needed
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
