Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of 3 years experience in artisanal bread or bagel baking
  • proven hands-on skills in fermentation and dough shaping
  • ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and late evenings
  • physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
  • knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards
  • strong communication skills to coordinate with kitchen team and supply management

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional bread or bagel baking experience, artisanal preferred
  • strong understanding of fermentation, hydration ratios, and traditional baking methods
  • ability to hand-shape dough and work with both bagel kettles and deck ovens
  • reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about craft baking
  • availability for early morning and late evening shifts
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • NYC native is a plus but not required

Job Duties

  • mix, ferment, shape, boil, and bake authentic bagels daily
  • produce a variety of breads such as rye, sourdough, and challah with consistency and quality
  • manage dough schedules, proofing, and oven baking to ensure product excellence
  • maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe production space
  • collaborate with Chef Joey and the culinary team on seasonal and specialty bread offerings
  • monitor inventory of flour, yeast, and baking supplies, communicating needs in advance
