Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 3 years experience in artisanal bread or bagel baking
- proven hands-on skills in fermentation and dough shaping
- ability to work flexible hours including early mornings and late evenings
- physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods
- knowledge of food safety and cleanliness standards
- strong communication skills to coordinate with kitchen team and supply management
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional bread or bagel baking experience, artisanal preferred
- strong understanding of fermentation, hydration ratios, and traditional baking methods
- ability to hand-shape dough and work with both bagel kettles and deck ovens
- reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about craft baking
- availability for early morning and late evening shifts
- ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- NYC native is a plus but not required
Job Duties
- mix, ferment, shape, boil, and bake authentic bagels daily
- produce a variety of breads such as rye, sourdough, and challah with consistency and quality
- manage dough schedules, proofing, and oven baking to ensure product excellence
- maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe production space
- collaborate with Chef Joey and the culinary team on seasonal and specialty bread offerings
- monitor inventory of flour, yeast, and baking supplies, communicating needs in advance
