Job Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year of related experience in bakery or customer service
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
- Capable of performing physical tasks including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to temperature extremes, flour dust, noise and equipment hazards
- Ability to follow company policies and maintain professional hygiene and dress standards
- Availability to report to work as scheduled and on time
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Over six months up to one year of similar or related bakery or customer service experience
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Proficient in arithmetic calculations including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Strong communication skills for customer interaction and basic information gathering
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate professionalism
- Knowledge of bakery equipment and proper sanitation procedures
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job such as lifting and standing for extended periods
Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers' names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer suggestions or requests, performing tasks to enhance the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly, helpful service including taking product orders
- Checks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule
- Prepares make up, bakes and fries all department products as needed
- Reviews the status and appearance of product for freshness and pulls by stale date
- Invoices and puts away product as instructed by the department manager
- Anticipates product needs for current and subsequent days
- Inspects incoming products quality and quantity
- Understands bakery equipment use and maintenance issues
- Checks signage for correct labels on ad items
- Reviews department for potential safety issues
- Operates as a lead with bakery clerks
- Prioritizes orders as per customer and department manager request
- Proofs necessary items
- Pulls product from freezer or cooler
- Practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures work area is clean
- Maintains adherence to hygiene, dress, company policies
- Reports to work scheduled and on time
