Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in baking or pastry cooking
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Must pass background investigation
  • Must obtain and maintain gaming license
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler’s card
  • Ability to obtain TIPS certification
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in basic English
  • Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to safely use and administer cleaning equipment
  • Ability to demonstrate professional appearance and manner
  • Ability to learn culinary methods
  • Ability to coordinate tasks within a team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, utensils, tools, and machinery
  • Knowledge of safe kitchen practices and food safety regulations
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler’s card and TIPS certification

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Ability to organize and coordinate tasks among team members

Job Duties

  • Prepares a variety of baked goods, breads, and doughs according to menu and demand
  • Uses and learns proper knife skills, baking and pastry techniques, methods, and terminology
  • Reads, understands, and follows standardized recipes for all bakery and pastry items
  • Maintains and communicates stock needs with Pastry Sous Chef to ensure proper levels
  • Ensures all Tribal, City, State, and Federal health and food safety codes are upheld
  • Maintains clean, organized, and sanitized work areas and food storage
  • Ensures proper rotation and production levels for bakery items
  • Communicates effectively with team members to maintain a positive work environment
  • Prepares venues to open on time as designated by management
  • Follows established procedures and contributes to team efforts
  • Demonstrates Desert Diamond Casino's spirit of service standards
