Job Requirements

  • Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
  • Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment
  • Experience in a luxury hotel or related field preferred
  • Food safety certification is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary certification or degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years culinary experience
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Knowledge of chemical handling, cleaning techniques, and equipment use
  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Able to perform multiple tasks
  • Physical agility and ability to move quickly in confined spaces
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and bend throughout shift
  • Ability to push, pull, lift up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in areas of high heat and humidity

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary certification or degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years of culinary experience preferred
  • Experience in a luxury hotel or related field preferred
  • Food safety certification is a plus
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques, and use of equipment
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends
  • Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Able to understand financial information and basic arithmetic functions

Job Duties

  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • Ensure equipment and kitchen cleanliness
  • Maintain refrigerators and kitchen in clean, organized manner with all food items labeled and dated
  • Maintain an effective training program for all employees to maximize productivity
  • Keep production of food at appropriate levels to prevent waste
  • Inform pastry cooks of special products needed for upcoming functions
  • Daily check Event Orders for all bread-related food requirements
  • Schedule bread production staff based on business demand
  • Supervise preparation, quality, and quantity of all baked items, ensuring standards are met
  • Supervise cleaning and equipment maintenance in Pastry Shop
  • Provide special themed showpieces as required
  • Provide own basic tools of the trade such as chef's knife, paring knife, peeler
  • Perform any other reasonable requests from management
