Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months up to one year of related bakery experience
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently
  • Visual acuity with or without correction including color vision and depth perception
  • Capacity to perform physical activities such as stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Willingness to work in an environment exposed to flour, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment hazards, and cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to maintain punctuality and adhere to company and department policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of related bakery or similar experience
  • Ability to provide customer-focused service with friendliness and professionalism
  • Knowledge of bakery equipment operation and maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail in product quality and presentation
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills for customer interaction and team collaboration

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Make an effort to learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along suggestions, and enhancing the shopping experience
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers including taking product orders
  • Check orders for the day, set up timelines and production schedules
  • Prepare make up, bake, and fry all department products as needed
  • Review the status and appearance of products for freshness and pull items by stale date
  • Invoice and put away product as instructed by the department manager
  • Anticipate product needs for current and subsequent days
  • Inspect incoming product quality and quantity
  • Understand and address bakery equipment use and potential maintenance issues
  • Check signage for correct labels on ad items
  • Review department for potential safety issues
  • Operate as lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritize orders as requested by customers and managers
  • Proof necessary items
  • Pull product from freezer or cooler
  • Practice proper sanitation procedures, ensuring work area is clean
  • Maintain adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
  • Adhere to company policies and store guidelines
  • Report to work when scheduled and on time
