Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Previous airport and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Reliable telephone and transportation
  • Ability to treat all information as confidential
  • Tact in dealing with various situations and people
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions in English
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work from verbal and written instructions
  • Physical ability to lift, stoop, squat, push, stand, and/or bend throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or hold up to 75 pounds
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must meet requirements for a security sensitive identification badge
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or possess necessary INS authorization

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous airport and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions in English
  • Competence in following verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to operate automated electronic scanning devices
  • Capability to electronically activate and manage baggage tags
  • Knowledge of FAA and TSA baggage handling and security requirements

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly and welcoming assistance to customers using automated self-service baggage check technologies
  • Interpret government rules and requirements for domestic and international travel
  • Serve customers in a caring, efficient, and diplomatic manner
  • Stand for extended periods to assist customers in the Bag Drop check-in area
  • Query passengers using FAA mandated security questions
  • Verify customer identification according to FAA/TSA regulations
  • Visually inspect and verify bag tags and carry-on baggage size and weight compliance
  • Activate bag tags using electronic scanning devices
  • Collect baggage fees when applicable
  • Handle checked bags including lifting, weighing, and placing on baggage belts
  • Affix printed bag tags from podium printers
  • Change stock in automated printers
  • Complete required paperwork accurately
  • Demonstrate welcoming and helpful behaviors consistently
  • Communicate effectively in English and possibly other languages as required
