This position is within a dynamic airport environment, a vital part of the travel and transportation industry. Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have reliable telephone and transportation
- Must be able to lift, stoop, squat, push, stand and/or bend throughout the shift
- Must be able to lift, carry and/or hold up to 75 lbs
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug test
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must meet requirements to obtain a security sensitive identification badge
- Must be a US citizen or possess necessary authorization from the immigration and naturalization service
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous airport and/or customer service experience preferred
- Ability to read, understand and carry out instructions in English
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English verbally and in writing
- Ability to work from verbal and written instructions
- Treat all information as confidential
- Possess tact to deal with all levels of situations, client representatives, employees and the public
Job Duties
- Provide friendly and welcoming assistance to customers checking baggage through self-service technologies
- Interpret government rules and requirements for domestic and international travel
- Serve customers in a caring, efficient and diplomatic manner
- Stand for extended periods within the bag drop check-in area to assist customers
- Query passengers using FAA mandated security questions
- Verify customer identification as required by FAA/TSA
- Activate and print bag tags using automated electronic devices
- Verify carry-on size and checked baggage weight requirements
- Handle checked bags including lifting, weighing and placing on belt
- Collect baggage fees when applicable
- Change stock in automated printers
- Complete required paperwork
- Demonstrate welcoming and helpful behaviors throughout tasks
- Fluency may be required in a specific foreign language
