Job Requirements

  • Prior kitchen experience preferred
  • California Food Handlers Certification required
  • Must wear close-toed, non-slip shoes
  • Ability to work in a high-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
  • Clear, effective verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of sanitation and food safety practices
  • Ability to multitask and maintain focus
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Willingness to attend training and meetings.

Job Qualifications

  • Prior kitchen experience preferred
  • California Food Handlers Certification required
  • Ability to use and operate all kitchen equipment including proper knife skills
  • Knowledge of cooking terms and practice of FIFO (first in, first out)
  • Good knowledge of hot and cold food preparation
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with speed and accuracy
  • Knowledge of vegetable preparation, proper portioning, and safe handling of meats and fish
  • Understanding of sanitation rules and procedures
  • Ability to multitask and maintain focus throughout the entire shift
  • Strong trouble shooting and prioritizing abilities
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail including reading all details on tickets
  • Knowledge of major allergens
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Prepare food according to recipe and restaurant specifications in a timely and efficient manner
  • Complete opening and closing checklists and assist others in these tasks
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipes
  • Manage all aspects of the station following manager's direction
  • Set up station according to standard operating procedures and prep lists
  • Prep food products using proper rotation and quality checks to prevent waste
  • Perform correct cooking techniques adhering to Gotts Roadside guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely production
  • Follow procedures to prevent cross-contamination for allergy safety
  • Bring problems or shortages to manager's attention
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area observing sanitation and safety procedures
  • Unpack and stock kitchen deliveries and perform assigned cleaning duties
  • Assist other line cooks when needed
  • Assist with shift changeovers to ensure order accuracy and timeliness
  • Attend required training classes and employee meetings
  • Manage dish duties
  • Check out with manager before leaving shift
  • Perform other assigned duties.
