Job Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Work Permit
  • valid health card or Serve Safe equivalent
  • Hepatitis A vaccination
  • provide and maintain a valid ServSafe Certificate within six months of hire
  • available and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • at least two years of related cooking experience
  • computer literacy
  • strong cooking skills
  • ability to lift/move objects up to 80 pounds
  • ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • able to undergo background check
  • flexible with work schedule
  • physical capability to perform job duties including standing, walking, lifting, repetitive movements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • culinary arts or associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • minimum two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft programs and other software
  • diverse cooking skills including high volume experience
  • skill in problem solving under pressure
  • ability to work with mathematical concepts related to food
  • ability to maintain effective relationships with all levels of the organization and the public
  • skill in effective verbal and written communication
  • employment contingent upon successful background investigation

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Washington State regulations, and KGCC policies and procedures
  • perform various cooking methods
  • follow all recipes and control procedures
  • prepare or display food to specifications
  • assist Chef in preparing specialty dishes
  • rotate food products daily to ensure quality
  • follow food safety and sanitation guidelines set by the FDA to ensure HACCP
  • perform quality control checks before, during, and after production to ensure health and sanitation standards
  • train and work with the prep/cook team
  • continually review kitchen operations for improvements
  • perform other tasks as requested by the Chef and food and beverage manager
  • work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • act as lead cook during shifts when requested
  • participate as a panelist for Internal Review Hearings
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
