Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience or Associate degree and six years of professional experience
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Meet FAA instructor eligibility requirements of FAR 147.23
- Sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds
- Medical certificate indicating fitness for administrative work prior to employment
- Compliance with LACCD vaccination policy before employment
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree with required professional experience
- Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
- Experience teaching in an Aviation Maintenance Technician Program preferred
- Familiarity with Avionics technology and Airframe/Powerplant topics
- Proficiency in computer use and instructional technology including online platforms like Canvas
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with student-centered and innovative pedagogies
- Ability to adapt teaching methods for diverse student populations
- Familiarity with community college mission and functions
- Understanding of career pathways and workforce opportunities
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Experience with grant development and management
- Sensitivity to diverse academic and cultural backgrounds
Job Duties
- Teach all courses in the Aviation Maintenance Technician Program
- Provide training according to FAA operating procedures and guidelines
- Equip students with skills and knowledge for competency in aircraft maintenance including use of tools and technology
- Provide knowledge of mechanic privileges, limitations, and FAA regulations
- Evaluate student performance and develop assessment outcomes
- Update courses and curriculum
- Maintain office hours and be available for student consultation
- Maintain accurate records as per LACCD and FAA policies
- Participate in shared governance and program review
- Engage in department, division, and college initiatives
- Collaborate with professional organizations and advisory boards
- Participate in recruitment and development of cooperative work experiences
- Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds
- Potentially teach in high schools
- Perform other assigned duties
