Job Requirements
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must pass the university's Defensive Driving Course while employed
Job Qualifications
- Graduation with a high school diploma or equivalent
- One year related experience or any combination of job-related experience and education totaling one year
- Knowledge of basic maintenance
- Knowledge of hand tool operation and safety procedures
- Skills in computers and computer applications
- Interpersonal human relations skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Basic skills with hardware, tools and mechanical dexterity
- High level of awareness and attention to detail skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to work under high stress situations and in hazardous environments
- Ability to withstand exposure to weather extremes and adverse tarmac conditions
- Ability to adhere to dress code including proper safety clothing and winter wear
- Ability to lift 30 lbs and manually manipulate aircraft in hangars
Job Duties
- Direct aircraft by guiding, towing, parking, greeting and organizing aircraft arriving or departing from the ramp
- Tow planes to appropriate flight areas and hangars
- Operate ground service equipment such as tugs, fuel trucks and transport vehicles
- Use appropriate aviation hand signals to direct pilots
- Monitor fuel levels and maintain fuel inventories to ensure proper fueling
- Stock and prepare fuel trucks for distribution, check oil levels and perform quality control checks
- Report any visible aircraft damage
- Perform light aircraft maintenance such as ensuring lights are turned off
- Assist in upkeep and maintenance of hangars and ramp area
- Maintain safe walkways and ramp during inclement weather including snow removal and de-icing
- Report suspicious activity to security
- Provide customer service by directing staff and students, interacting with dispatchers, and communicating with pilots and students on the ramp
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
