Job Requirements
- Must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment
- Completion of an interview process
- Availability for overnight shifts
- Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Relevant work experience in public safety, video technology, or professional security officer duties
Job Qualifications
- Three years of public safety, video technology or professional security officer work experience, or Graduation from an accredited college with an associate’s degree or higher plus one year of work experience in public safety, video technology, or as a professional security officer
- Ability to operate advanced surveillance technology
- Strong observational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of public safety procedures
Job Duties
- Monitor and operate a Genetec video management surveillance system providing continuous observation of transit, department, and TSA cameras
- Monitor, detect and track drone activity in and around airports
- Identify and report intrusions, suspicious activity, and access restrictions recorded by the surveillance system
- Utilize automatic license plate recognition to assist in identifying vehicle license plates
- Coordinate responses to real-time observations impacting airport operations including safety and public safety
- Analyze flow of passengers, wait lines, crowd controls, parking and curbside management reporting areas of concern
- Receive, input and relay Suspicious Activity Reports and communicate detailed descriptions to Watch Manager and O’Hare Communications Center dispatcher
- Research local, national, and international news sources and social media feeds to identify potential security impacts
- Compile security and surveillance details and prepare daily security bulletins
- Coordinate with local and federal agencies by responding to requests for information
- Act as liaison with law enforcement for information sharing
- Receive notifications of emergency calls in surveillance camera areas and report observations
- Document daily activities and incident reports accurately
- Retrieve and record requested segments of video tape
- Monitor and track drone detection equipment and make appropriate notifications
- Testify in court regarding established protocols
- Perform other related duties as required
