Job Requirements
- Not more than two separate incidents involving Federal Aviation regulations violations in the last 5 years
- Valid State driver's license
- Fluency in the English language
- No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Physically able to perform Aviation Safety Inspector duties safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Good distant vision in each eye to read typewritten characters, glasses and contacts permitted
- Ability to hear conversational voice, hearing aid permitted
- No physical condition posing hazard to self or others or interfering with flying as passenger in various aircraft
- Possess valid second-class medical certificate as per FAA regulations or provide physician certification
- Pass recurrent medical examinations as prescribed by the FAA
- Education is not qualifying and cannot be substituted for experience
Job Qualifications
- Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings
- Demonstrated professional flying skill verified by flight check to Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument rating
- Possession of Airline Transport Pilot Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument airplane rating
- Minimum of 100 flight hours within the last 3 years
- Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours
- Possession of single and multi-engine land airplane ratings
- No more than 2 flying accidents in the last 5 years involving pilot error
- Valid second-class FAA medical certificate
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I/FG-13 level involving certification, surveillance, investigation, and compliance recommendation of FAR Part 135 air carriers/air operators
- Experience in FAA Flight Program to maintain qualification and currency for operation inspectors including training and evaluation of designated pilot examiners
Job Duties
- Manage and oversee the development and implementation of FAA designee programs related to general aviation
- Apply expert knowledge of Title 14 CFR to ensure compliance and effective regulatory oversight
- Conduct certification, surveillance, and compliance reviews of general aviation designee operations
- Provide technical guidance and support to designees to maintain program standards and operational safety
- Evaluate and enhance designee management processes and training programs
- Monitor designee qualifications and performance to uphold FAA standards
- Collaborate with internal FAA teams and external stakeholders to support program objectives
