Job Requirements
- Possession of minimum qualifications as described in the Aviation Officer II (Flight Operations) classification specifications
- Continuous maintenance of all required certifications
- Completion of recruitment questionnaire as highly encouraged
- Submission of complete State Examination/Employment Application STD 678
- Inclusion of a current resume with application
- Ability to work full-time in Sacramento County office
- Compliance with all state employment and safety regulations
- Availability to respond to emergencies and adapt to shift work if necessary
Job Qualifications
- Valid pilot certification appropriate for fixed-wing air tanker operations
- Experience in flight operations, particularly in emergency or wildfire response settings
- Knowledge of aviation safety regulations and protocols
- Ability to maintain required certifications continuously
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Physical fitness suitable for demanding flight duties
- Familiarity with CAL FIRE mission and operations
Job Duties
- Operate fixed-wing air tanker aircraft for wildfire suppression missions
- Maintain continuous currency and certifications as required for Aviation Officer II classification
- Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections and safety checks
- Coordinate with ground and air firefighting teams for effective mission execution
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulatory compliance during flight operations
- Participate in training and emergency preparedness drills
- Compile and submit flight and operational reports
