Job Requirements
- Successful completion of a background investigation
- pre-employment physical examination, drug and alcohol testing and random drug and alcohol testing
- valid Commercial Driver's License Class A
- occasional statewide travel with occasional overnight stays to make equipment repairs at the job site
- residence within a 45-minute travel time frame from the primary work location
- willingness to work overtime and on-call status during snow and ice season
- adherence to all conditions of employment related to job duties
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge equivalent to completion of four years of high school or coursework in vehicle repair and maintenance or completion of an approved training course
- experience necessary to qualify as a skilled mechanic
- extensive knowledge in the use of mechanical hand tools, machinery, and testing equipment used in equipment and motor repair
- ability to diagnose, adjust, and correct mechanical issues
- knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety measures
- ability to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints as well as oral and written instructions
- ability to weld and perform simple blacksmith operations
- ability to work well with others
- ability to prepare work activity reports
- ability to perceive objects with sharpness
Job Duties
- Perform mechanical repairs on vehicles assigned to field headquarters and also conduct repairs at the site of a disabled vehicle
- perform regular inspection and maintenance of vehicles on an established schedule
- maintain accurate and timely records of all maintenance repairs performed
- perform minor welding and fabrication
- perform all other duties as assigned which are reasonably related to the duties enumerated above
