Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business, or related field
- 10+ years of hospitality leadership experience
- Experience in private club, luxury hotel, resort or historic property management
- Proven financial management skills including budgeting and revenue oversight
- Skilled in strategic planning and organizational leadership
- Experience working with boards and governance committees
- Ability to lead high-touch service environments
- Knowledge of digital marketing and brand management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multi-department operations
- Willingness to uphold compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business, or related field
- 10+ years of hospitality leadership experience
- Established experience in a private club, luxury hotel, resort, or historic property with oversight of multi-department operations
- Proven success overseeing hotel and private club financials including budgets, member dues models, food and beverage, events performance, and KPIs
- Experience working with boards, trustees, or governance committees including strategic collaboration
- Track record of strategic planning and organizational leadership
- Experience leading high-touch service environments focused on exceptional member and guest experiences
- Demonstrated success leading digital marketing, social media, and brand repositioning initiatives
- Master’s degree in hospitality management, business, or related field preferred
- Experience in higher education preferred
- Experience managing historic hotels, luxury membership clubs, or heritage properties with preservation considerations preferred
- Certified Club Manager (CCM), Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), Certified Hospitality Professional (CHP), or other relevant credentials preferred
- Active involvement in professional associations such as CMAA or AHLA preferred
Job Duties
- Provide strategic leadership and broad direction to all departments within The Athenaeum including fiscal operations, hotel operations, membership and marketing, food and beverage, culinary, purchasing, and private and club events
- Oversee the planning, development, formulation, and implementation of operational policies, programs, procedures, communication strategies, and business plans
- Establish, implement, communicate, and reinforce the overall philosophy, mission, and vision of the club in alignment with Institute goals and governance
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality products, services, programs, and support to members, guests, and campus divisions
- Collaborate with various boards and committees to communicate financial and operational status and provide policy advice and recommendations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws through regular license and permit renewals
- Direct high-profile events with significant visibility impacting Institute reputation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships and communications within the Caltech community
- Formulate and manage annual operating and capital budgets and business plans
- Identify and develop new revenue streams and monitor financial reports for revenue generation and cost control
- Make key human resources decisions including hiring, promotions, training, and performance evaluations
- Cultivate a positive workplace culture through communication, teamwork, and staff development
- Oversee care and maintenance of club facilities and direct major renovation projects
- Manage marketing and communication strategies including social media and website
- Lead fundraising initiatives to expand the Athenaeum Architectural Preservation Fund
- Participate in community events to enhance the club's prestige and operational scope
