Job Requirements

  • Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester
  • or have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters
  • maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or have approval from the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs or designee
  • actively pursuing an aviation-related degree
  • completion of Introductory Ground Operations and Safety Course or combination training and experience
  • able to work on campus at Merrill Field Airport
  • compliant with background check

Job Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing an aviation-related degree
  • completion of Introductory Ground Operations and Safety Course or equivalent training and experience
  • ability to work up to 20 hours per week during academic year and up to 40 hours per week during summer
  • good communication skills
  • commitment to safety and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Perform ramp services such as aircraft detailing and cleaning
  • sweep ramp areas
  • remove snow from ramp surfaces
  • service aircraft tie downs
  • assist with aircraft movement in and out of maintenance hangar
  • cover and secure aircraft daily
  • perform other tasks as assigned to ensure safety and reduce damage hazards
