Job Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years of related experience

  • Professional demeanor
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in a college recreation setting preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred (must obtain within 90 days if not certified)
  • Certified Pool Operator certification preferred (must obtain within one year if not certified)
  • Group fitness certification(s) preferred
  • Knowledge of reservation, intramural sports, and recreational facility software platforms preferred

Job Duties

  • Creates and supports a fun, positive, and encouraging student wellness environment
  • Ensures creation and hosting of regular weekly events in various facilities
  • Increases student participation in recreational activities including intramural sports, club sports, outdoor programs, fitness programs, game room, bowling, swimming, and weight-lifting
  • Manages a team of professional staff to meet student wellness and recreation needs
  • Directly oversees aquatics programming and events
  • Develops innovative engagement strategies with campus partners such as Campus Activities, Greek organizations, academic departments, and Residential Living
  • Trains professional and student staff to meet high service standards
  • Monitors expenditures and manages budgets for recreational programs and events
  • Utilizes benchmarking and performance indicators to achieve strategic metrics
  • Keeps current on trends and adjusts programs and spaces based on student feedback
  • Ensures facility and programs safety
  • Collaborates with campus partners to minimize risks
  • Oversees facility improvements to enhance student satisfaction
  • Hires, trains, and supervises professional and student staff
  • Ensures compliance with risk management, travel, and procurement policies
  • Conducts routine facility and equipment inspections
  • Manages indoor aquatics facility as a Certified Pool Operator
  • Oversees preventive maintenance and custodial services
  • Provides oversight for construction projects and repairs
  • Maintains budget for facility maintenance
  • Serves as key university contact for student recreation and wellness programming
  • Collaborates on marketing and promotion of recreational opportunities
  • Promotes a positive and communicative work environment
  • Assists with departmental strategic planning and learning assessment
  • Ensures compliance with required training courses
  • Performs other duties as assigned
