Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Eight years of related experience
  • Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days if not currently certified
  • Must obtain Certified Pool Operator certification within one year if hired without certification
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in computer software including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to engage and motivate students
  • Knowledge of risk management and safety compliance
  • Professional and collaborative work attitude

  • Knowledge of leadership, strategic planning, and risk management
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software

  • Exceptional written communication, time management, and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding organizational abilities
  • Comfortable working in a team-centered, cross-trained, and collaborative environment
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to work under pressure
  • Professional demeanor
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in a college recreation setting preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred
  • Certified Pool Operator certification preferred
  • Group fitness certification preferred
  • Familiarity with recreational facility software platforms preferred

Job Duties

  • Create and support a positive student wellness environment
  • Host regular weekly events for students in various recreational facilities
  • Increase student participation in intramural sports, club sports, fitness programs, and other activities
  • Manage a team of professional staff to meet student wellness and recreation needs
  • Oversee aquatics programming and events
  • Train professional and student staff to meet service standards
  • Monitor expenditures, manage budget, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure facility and program safety and compliance with risk management policies
  • Conduct routine inspections and manage facility maintenance
  • Collaborate with university departments to enhance recreational programming and student engagement
  • Serve on the Recreational Sports leadership team and assist with strategic planning
  • Maintain compliance with all training and reporting requirements
  • Participate in facility improvements and construction oversight as needed
