Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physical education, recreation, sports management, student personnel administration, or related field
  • Minimum of five years related work experience
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of tournament scheduling principles
  • Experience managing outdoor adventure programs
  • Experience managing club sport programs
  • Experience in budget development, program evaluation, and risk management
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and email
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to motivate colleagues and students

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • In Director's absence, responsible for all aspects of programming and facilities in the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Department
  • With the director, guide the Department of Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness in a manner consistent with the goals of the Student Affairs Division and the mission of the University
  • Supervise the Assistant Program Director - Intramurals and provide direct operational and administrative oversight of the Intramural Sports program
  • Supervise the Assistant Program Director - Outdoor Adventure and oversee climbing center operations, bike/camping gear checkout
  • Supervise the Evening and Morning Building Supervisors
  • Organize, administer, promote, supervise and evaluate the Club Sports program operation including managing council meetings, budgets, travel requests, practice schedules, and equipment
  • Oversee repairs and maintenance of the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center, outdoor facilities, and exercise machines
  • Assist with selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of student staff
  • Oversee daily operations and programs including supervision of welcome greeters, laundry attendants, floor supervisors, and interns
  • Maintain equipment and supplies for programs
  • Develop and implement risk management program
  • Develop annual evaluation and budget reports
  • Assist in departmental budget oversight
  • Support award, recognition programs, publications, and staff training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
