Job Requirements

  • Experience of at least 3 years in art sales or previous senior sales role in the art industry or luxury goods or other high-end environment
  • Ability to initiate, develop and complete artwork sales to clients consistently
  • Capability to work in a fast paced environment and manage daily gallery operations
  • Ambitious self-starter with proven sales and sales management success
  • Excellent English proficiency in written and spoken communication
  • Full time availability with flexible hours to staff and attend gallery events
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and responsible
  • Engagement in Greater Houston arts community and networking opportunities
  • CRM and selling experience
  • Previous experience managing sales teams
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and graphic design for marketing
  • Well presented and polished
  • Genuine passion for the arts

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Fine Art Administration, Art History, or related field preferred
  • Master's degree a plus
  • At least 3 years experience in art sales or senior sales role in luxury goods or high-end environment
  • Proven sales and sales management experience
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
  • CRM and selling experience
  • Adobe Photoshop and graphic design knowledge
  • Previous experience managing sales teams
  • Ability to motivate and exceed sales goals
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Polished and professional presentation
  • Passion for the arts

Job Duties

  • Work with Houston Director to assist with sales, online and digital marketing, installations, artist relations and new artist and programming development
  • Interface with gallery visitors and generate walk-in sales
  • Respond to in-person and online sales inquiries
  • Serve as Artist liaison in Director's absence
  • Create new sales opportunities by engaging clients and attending museum shows and art events
  • Track and manage artist CVs, press, images and files
  • Grow sales base of Austin clients
  • Facilitate communication with artists
  • Prepare content for exhibitions, press releases, eblasts, social media, gallery website and online sales platforms
  • Maintain artist interest mailing lists
  • Respond to press inquiries and art image requests
  • Participate in artwork installations
  • Coordinate with Operations Coordinator on shipping, receiving and artwork database integrity
  • Assist with or create collateral materials for exhibitions and lectures
  • Work weekends and holidays as needed
