Chatham Place at Mary Wade is a distinguished assisted living and memory care community that is part of the larger Mary Wade organization, dedicated to providing exceptional residential care to seniors. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in food preparation or cooking roles preferred
- knowledge of dietary needs related to seniors or healthcare diets
- ability to work early mornings, late evenings, and every other weekend
- must be able to understand and follow standardized recipes and diet orders
- physical ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform kitchen tasks
- ability to train and supervise dietary aides
- flexible to shift between day and evening work shifts

Job Duties
- Prepares and directs preparation of food served following standardized recipes and special diet orders
- plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved
- purchases food and supplies as directed or in absence of food service supervisor
- directs and assists in daily scheduled cleaning duties of the department ensuring compliance with established sanitary and infection control standards
- carves and apportions food for serving and may assist in serving duties
- keeps storeroom in order and puts away stock
- assists with setup for meal service on resident units including preparing all food items and all items needed for meal service such as plates, utensils, and adaptive equipment
- prepares desserts, special resident requests, and items needed for meal service on units
- reads breakdown menus and adheres to resident food allergies and diet orders
- understands residents’ diets, allergies, and fluid restrictions for service from hot carts on units
- shifts flexibly between cooking and preparing day and evening shifts
- assists director and supervisor with diet change documentation
- trains dietary aides in the kitchen and dish room
- posts daily menus
- meets with residents to review menus and document meal choices
