Job Requirements

  • some college course completion in technical theatre
  • three years of technical theatre experience
  • ability to work varying hours including weekends and evenings
  • willingness to use personal vehicle for work-related travel
  • ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds
  • ability to climb and work at heights of 20 to 40 feet
  • ability to attend evening and weekend performances and meetings
  • capability to communicate effectively written and orally
  • ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities

Job Qualifications

  • some college course completion in technical theatre
  • three years of technical theatre experience
  • technical director or assistant technical director experience desired
  • knowledge of technical theatre and stage management techniques including lighting and sound plots scenic design and floor plans
  • knowledge of working drawings carpentry techniques and rigging techniques
  • knowledge of electrical circuitry and wiring
  • familiarity with computerized lighting boards and digital sound equipment
  • ability to organize technical load-ins and rigging for theaters
  • ability to work within production deadlines
  • ability to train schedule and supervise stage lighting and sound crew
  • ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with rental clients artistic technical and stage management personnel

Job Duties

  • assist in training hiring and supervising stage crew for all events
  • assist throughout production process and supervise seasonal staff including audio lighting special effects video rigging hair and make-up scenic elements
  • attend technical and dress rehearsals for performances and events
  • create modify and interpret various technical drawings
  • ensure compliance with safety requirements needed for hanging units flats special effects and operation of automated rigging sound and lighting equipment
  • assist in creating and distributing schedules for all productions
  • assist in overseeing load-in assembly and rigging of scenery for incoming shows
  • keep abreast of rental contracts for scenery trucking and hiring of crews
  • maintain production inventories and asset tracking
  • coordinate technical needs of outside rental groups
  • perform other related technical duties as assigned
