Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • minimum of five years management experience in the LTL or transportation industry preferred
  • good computer skills including AS400 and MS Office
  • excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • excellent planning and organizational skills
  • ability to create, implement and monitor training programs
  • strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring, and terminating employees
  • willingness to travel
  • strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills
  • willingness to work 50 hours per week on average
  • ability to work any shift and in all terminal areas and weather conditions
  • ability to lift approximately 20 lbs or more
  • compliance with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
  • ability to interact well with others
  • ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • ability to work under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
  • ability to respond well to questions
  • ability to read, interpret and comply with safety rules and procedure manuals

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background, bachelor degree preferred
  • minimum of five years management experience in the LTL or transportation industry preferred

Job Duties

  • Report to the Terminal Manager
  • lead, guide and direct terminal employees including setting targets, monitoring performance, providing coaching, counseling and development
  • manage an efficient, clean and safe L2L operation
  • responsible for all hiring, training and terminations while ensuring proper paperwork completion
  • enforce compliance with all company policies, procedures, safety rules and government regulations
  • administer and carry out the Terminal Business plan
  • assist in the development and implementation of the terminal's annual business plan, strategies, quarterly business reviews, and period P&L analysis
  • investigate causes of customer complaints and recommend solutions
  • investigate employee relations complaints with HR and recommend corrective actions
  • meet all KPIs set by the company
  • stay current on company procedures and changes
  • work in all operational areas of the terminal
  • maintain regular attendance
  • perform additional duties as assigned according to operational and safety needs
