Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- three years of progressively responsible experience in technical operations, theatre, concert, or entertainment production at a comparable facility
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- supervisory skills
- ability to design and construct production equipment from sketches or plans
- ability to read and understand floor plans, color schemes, stage lighting, and basic construction plans or blueprints
- mechanical skills in the construction, operation, and minor repair of sound and lighting equipment
- ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds frequently
- ability to stand for prolonged periods and climb ladders
- willingness to work evenings and weekends during major events
- authorization to work in the United States
- no work visa sponsorship provided
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- bachelor’s degree preferred
- three years of progressively responsible experience in technical operations, theatre, concert, or entertainment production at a comparable facility
- experience in stage lighting operations, sound reinforcement and design, counterweight operations, construction, maintenance, and operations
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- supervisory skills
- ability to design and construct production equipment from sketches or plans
- ability to read and understand floor plans and blueprints
- mechanical skills for maintenance and repair of equipment
Job Duties
- develop, construct, and maintain lighting and sound equipment for daily operations and special events
- provide production assistance to university departments and commercial entertainers
- recommend staging, counterweight tightening, lighting, and sound techniques
- supervise production and technical crews composed of student and temporary employees
- act as Technical Director’s representative during events when the Technical Director is unavailable
- read and interpret floor plans, color schemes, and construction blueprints
- operate and perform minor repairs on sound and lighting equipment
