Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of retail leadership or customer service experience
  • Full time availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage teams
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Physical ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be over the age of 18 as required by law

Job Duties

  • Participates in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, coaching, and terminating associates
  • Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development through reviews, recognition, training, onboarding, mentoring, succession planning, and coaching
  • Addresses and administers associate complaints and grievances
  • Prioritizes, delegates, and validates daily tasks for associates
  • Leads and coaches associates on proper processes to ensure pet safety and health
  • Coordinates staffing coverage for pivotal store areas
  • Communicates company information and priorities to associates
  • Leads the pet parent experience and oversees pet care safety
  • Manages reservations for services like grooming, training, and boarding
  • Oversees PetSmart services including salon, training, hotel, day camp, live pet sales, and adoption events
  • Evaluates and improves store operations and services
  • Manages store events and marketing efforts
  • Maintains store standards and compliance with policies and ethics
  • Conducts monthly service walks to ensure proper execution of procedures
  • Acts promptly when a sick or injured pet is identified
  • Shares responsibility for store opening and closing procedures
  • Drives business growth and holds associates accountable for meeting sales and shrink targets
  • Manages store expenses including labor and supplies
  • Collaborates with corporate partners on store work orders and purchase card allocation
  • Works with services associates on productivity and scheduling
