Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience
  • associates degree and 7 years of relevant experience
  • bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience
  • master’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience
  • valid North Carolina driver’s license or ability to obtain
  • Airport Security Coordinator certification required within 60 days of employment
  • ability to obtain National Incident Management System ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, ICS-800 certifications within 60 days of hire
  • ability to work all hours including weekends, holidays, and emergencies
  • ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and physical examination
  • willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as walking long distances and lifting up to 25 lbs
  • ability to undergo background checks in compliance with federal and state laws

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor’s degree with five years of experience or associate’s degree with seven years of experience
  • major coursework in aviation, business, public administration, criminal justice, or related field
  • minimum three years of direct supervisory experience in airport operations, management, security, or law enforcement
  • possession of AAAE Certified Member, ACE-Security, AAE, CPP, or PSP certifications preferred
  • comprehensive knowledge of 49 CFR Part 1542, TSA regulations and airport security programs
  • considerable knowledge of airport operations and safety precautions
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • skills in contract management and budgeting
  • ability to develop and implement security policies and emergency response plans
  • strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • ability to respond effectively in emergencies and maintain professional relationships

Job Duties

  • Assist in managing personnel and programs required to operate a Category X commercial airport in compliance with TSA and other regulations
  • Oversee development and compliance with Security Operations Standard Operating Procedures
  • Administer Airport Security Program ensuring TSA regulatory compliance
  • Serve as Alternate Airport Security Coordinator and liaison with federal and local law enforcement agencies
  • Be available for 24/7 response and rotating on-call duties
  • Formulate and update security policies and procedures
  • Enforce airport security rules and regulations
  • Respond to and manage airport emergencies and irregular operations
  • Coordinate Security Operations response efforts and serve in incident command roles
  • Conduct emergency response training related to airport security
  • Assist in administration of the Security Services contract including audits and dispute resolution
  • Collaborate with all Aviation Departments to maintain airport operations and security compliance
  • Coordinate security activities with airport tenants and stakeholders
  • Manage the Security Notice of Violation program and serve on the Badge Revocation Review Board
  • Oversee training programs and maintain training records
  • Develop security inspection, screening, and insider threat programs
  • Record, analyze, and report performance metrics
  • Develop procedures for security incident reporting and recording
  • Implement risk and vulnerability assessments and quality control programs
  • Supervise Security Operations personnel including hiring, training, and performance review
  • Manage use of overtime and monitor personnel morale
  • Assist with budget development and contract service leveraging
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
