Job Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of 30 semester units in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to obtain First Aid and CPR/AED certification within 30 days
  • Valid California class C driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to occasionally perform physical tasks such as lifting 50 pounds
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to use computer software for reports and communication

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of 30 semester units from an accredited college or university in a closely related field
  • Two years of increasingly responsible work experience or equivalent community service in assigned field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR/AED certification
  • Valid California class C driver's license with clean driving record
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Proficient in computer database programs and office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of current methods and procedures in recreation program planning and evaluation
  • Ability to lead and coordinate work of others
  • Ability to analyze and solve non-routine problems
  • Capacity to handle physical demands of the job including lifting up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize, schedule, and evaluate assigned recreation programs or facilities
  • Work with independent contracted instructors
  • Use registration software to monitor program registration and participant payments
  • Provide courteous and professional service to all program participants and staff
  • Accountable for all program participants during program hours
  • Complete and maintain reports and forms as necessary
  • Provide a safe and clean environment with adequate supervision
  • Report any potentially unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • Responsible for set up and clean up of facility and equipment
  • Enforce rules and regulations of programs and facilities
  • Conduct work tasks safely complying with safety standards
  • Purchase and maintain program supplies and equipment
  • Perform emergency procedures when needed
  • Coordinate with private security and report security issues
  • Develop and implement program surveys
  • Monitor behavior of participants
  • Attend required training, meetings, and events
  • Communicate with parents, participants, and public
  • Provide support to supervisors and staff
  • Make recommendations on staff training and evaluation
  • Collect and review timesheets
  • Required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of program budget
  • Assist in program outreach and marketing
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings
  • Collaborate on facility rental permits
  • Act as department liaison to community
  • Recruit, select, train, schedule, and lead volunteers
  • Perform front office duties in absence of staff
  • Perform duties of higher level staff as needed
