Job Requirements

  • Terminal degree in vocal performance or vocal pedagogy or exceptional record of teaching and performance experience
  • successful university-level teaching experience
  • proven student recruitment ability
  • commitment to professional and community engagement
  • ability to mentor and supervise graduate assistants
  • capability to contribute to university and professional service
  • readiness to complete a criminal history background check

Job Qualifications

  • Possess a terminal degree in vocal performance or vocal pedagogy or demonstrate a record of outstanding teaching and performance experience that may be substituted for education in exceptional circumstances
  • hold a record of successful university-level teaching experience
  • provide examples of student acceptance into tuition-based training and professional young artist programs
  • demonstrate a strong commitment to the recruitment of outstanding students
  • demonstrate a proven commitment to creating an environment that contributes to the vibrancy, customs, and economy of the university community
  • preference given to candidates with mezzo-soprano voice type
  • show a record of successful recruitment of talented students
  • commitment to advance innovative teaching practices
  • demonstrate initiative to work and collaborate across artistic disciplines with campus and community stakeholders
  • ability to attract resources including grants or other sources of support that advance the College of Music

Job Duties

  • Pursue a continued professional career and actively participate in performances within the College of Music
  • demonstrate excellence in teaching through applied studio and classroom instruction of graduate and undergraduate voice majors
  • recruit high-quality students regionally, nationally, and internationally
  • provide assistance and mentorship to students in developing their professional goals
  • assist in the supervision of graduate assistants in vocal performance
  • participate in university and professional service activities nationally and internationally as appropriate
  • perform other classroom instruction commensurate with qualifications and interests
