Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher or associate degree with related full-time professional experience
  • ServeSafe Food Safety Manager certification and proctor license
  • eligibility for district vehicle insurance coverage
  • compliance with commercial kitchen regulations
  • sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds
  • ability to travel as required
  • availability for full-time, in-person contract
  • demonstrated experience with hospitality and culinary arts industry
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • work collaboratively

Job Qualifications

  • Any bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution and two years of full-time professional experience or associate degree and six years of related experience
  • possess ServeSafe Food Safety Manager certification and proctor license
  • demonstrate knowledge of federal, state, county, and local regulations
  • experience teaching in higher education especially California Community College desired
  • proficiency in andragogy in hospitality and culinary arts and management
  • ability to design engaging curriculum
  • experience managing budgets and program operations
  • strong communication and collaboration skills
  • commitment to inclusivity and diversity
  • ability to work with diverse student populations
  • capacity to maintain professional ethics and standards

Job Duties

  • Provide instruction in assigned classes
  • support students in course progress and program completion
  • assess student and program learning outcomes
  • participate in articulation and curriculum development and review
  • maintain currency and relevancy in assigned disciplines
  • oversee industry advisory committee
  • collaborate with industry partners
  • coordinate program aspects such as shopping and inventory
  • maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
  • utilize current technology
  • engage in faculty governance including accreditation and committees
  • fulfill other faculty member duties
  • deliver instruction in various modalities including evenings and weekends
