Job Requirements

  • Any bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution and two years of related full-time professional experience
  • or an associate degree and six years of related experience
  • maintain ServeSafe Food Safety Manager certification and proctor license
  • ability to qualify for district vehicle insurance coverage
  • demonstrate compliance with commercial kitchen regulations
  • sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students and staff
  • availability to teach evenings and weekends
  • ability to travel as required
  • professional ethics and standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • two years of full-time professional experience in a related occupation
  • or associate degree with six years of related full-time experience
  • extensive experience as a lead chef or baker, restaurant manager, or in a resort or catering company
  • knowledge of hospitality and culinary arts and management curricula
  • experience in teaching in higher education preferably in a California Community College
  • ability to apply current pedagogical theories and instructional technologies
  • capability to coordinate academic programs including budgets and faculty mentoring
  • compliance with commercial kitchen regulations
  • serve safe food safety manager certification
  • effective communication skills
  • commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • ability to collaborate with colleagues and industry partners
  • experience in curriculum development and data-based program assessment
  • ability to deliver instruction in multiple modalities
  • willingness to travel for program needs

Job Duties

  • Provide instruction in assigned classes under supervision of the Dean of Academic Affairs
  • support students in course progress and program completion
  • assess student and program learning outcomes
  • participate in articulation and curriculum development and review
  • maintain currency and relevancy in hospitality and culinary arts and management disciplines
  • oversee industry advisory committee and collaborate with industry partners
  • coordinate program aspects such as shopping, conducting inventory, and maintaining regulatory compliance
  • utilize current technology in employment responsibilities
  • engage in college service by participating in faculty governance including accreditation and faculty councils and committees
  • fulfill other duties of a full-time faculty member
