Job Requirements

  • Possess bachelor's degree or higher or associate degree with relevant experience
  • two to six years of related full-time professional experience
  • ServeSafe Food Safety Manager certification and proctor license
  • ability to qualify for district vehicle insurance coverage
  • compliance with commercial kitchen regulations
  • sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • ability to travel per district policy
  • availability for instructional assignments including evenings and weekends
  • demonstrate ability to communicate effectively
  • maintain professional ethics and standards
  • provide evidence of relevant work and teaching experience
  • official transcripts required at hire

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • two years of full-time professional experience in a related occupation or associate degree with six years of related experience
  • extensive experience as a lead chef, baker, restaurant manager or catering professional
  • knowledge of hospitality, culinary arts and management curricula
  • experience teaching in higher education
  • ability to apply current pedagogical theories and practices
  • skills in curriculum development and program management
  • experience with regulatory compliance in commercial kitchens
  • strong communication and collaboration skills
  • ability to engage diverse student populations
  • proficiency in multiple instructional modalities
  • commitment to professional standards and ethics
  • willingness to participate in faculty governance and community partnerships

Job Duties

  • Provide instruction in assigned classes
  • support students in course progress and program completion
  • assess student and program learning outcomes
  • participate in articulation and curriculum development and review
  • maintain currency and relevancy in assigned disciplines
  • oversee industry advisory committee
  • collaborate with industry partners
  • coordinate program aspects such as shopping, inventory, and regulatory compliance
  • utilize current technology in employment responsibilities
  • engage in faculty governance including accreditation and committees
  • fulfill other duties as a full-time faculty member
  • teach in various modalities including evenings and weekends
  • coordinate multifaceted academic programs including budgeting and mentoring
