Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum three years experience as golf course equipment technician or related mechanical experience
- valid driver’s license
- mechanics certificate from gas and diesel engine training seminar or equivalent work experience
- ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- ability to lift up to 100 pounds
- strong physical capability including standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- regular and reliable attendance
- understanding of safety protocols
- ability to maintain professional conduct and communication standards
Job Qualifications
- Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines
- knowledge of proper servicing methods for equipment, sharpening reels and mowing equipment adjustments
- ability to use mechanical tools and follow instructions
- minimum three years of experience as golf course equipment technician or related field
- ability to read and interpret business and technical documents
- ability to write reports and correspondence
- effective presentation and communication skills
- competency in basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and draw conclusions
Job Duties
- Supervise and participate in all equipment maintenance including mower grinding and sharpening
- backlapping and setting heights of cut
- daily equipment and height of cut inspections
- fabrication and welding
- engine and transmission work
- handle vendor and manufacturer correspondence including parts ordering or troubleshooting
- manage all shop operations in Equipment Manager's absence
- overhaul and repair maintenance vehicles and mower equipment
- inspect equipment for operating deficiencies and make routine adjustments
- respond to equipment failures in the field
- maintain knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance
- receive, unload, and pick up materials deliveries
- assist in controlling tool access and use by maintenance staff
- monitor and maintain grass dump and wash bay area
- participate in equipment orientation and training with staff
- maintain proper record keeping
- calibrate spraying/fertilizer equipment
- keep equipment service and storage areas clean
- monitor fuel storage, track fuel usage, ensure proper mixing and handling
- assist with winter snow removal and plowing
- work overtime as needed
- oversee maintenance of other department’s vehicles and equipment
- incorporate safe work practices
- maintain regular and reliable attendance
- uphold professional standards in appearance and interaction
- maintain positive attitude and flexibility to take on new tasks
